Visit of Massachusetts State Representative Tram Nguyen and Kansas State Representative Laura Williams

On Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, our Sendagaya Campus hosted Massachusetts House of Representatives member Tram Nguyen and Kansas House of Representatives member Laura Williams on a visit organized by the Japan Centre for International Exchange USA (JCIE USA). The two representatives were accompanied by JCIE USA staff, including Executive Director Kazuyo Kato, and members of The U.S.-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange (CULCON). Held as part of the JCIE US-Japan Women Leaders Dialogue Program, the visitors took part in a discussion session with Tsuda University President Takahashi, Vice-President Hayakawa, Chief Student and International Affairs Officer Nii, and four Tsuda students who had studied abroad in the US.

The two Representatives spoke about their reasons for becoming state legislators, their career and experiences to date, and future goals, while the students talked about their study abroad experiences, post-graduation plans, and future dreams. Participants were particularly interested to hear from President Takahashi about the history of Tsuda Umeko and Tsuda University and about her own study experiences in the US, confirming the deep ties that exist between our university and the United States.

After the event, the students commented how inspired they were to meet such active women and noted how it gave them strong motivation to continue to pursue their studies and career goals.
