Welcome Party for International Students

On April 27, 2022, a welcome party for international students was hosted by the Center for International Exchange.

With Japan’s border restrictions, designed to prevent the spread of Covid-19, many international students have not been allowed to enter Japan since 2020; therefore, Tsuda University has been accepting international students by offering an online program.

The Japanese government eased immigration restrictions this spring, which allowed international students to enter Japan again. Four international students who had been studying online from their own countries (one degree-seeking international student enrolled in 2020, two enrolled in 2021, and one exchange student from the second half of 2021) were finally able to come to Japan this April and are now attending classes on campus. We also welcomed one degree-seeking international student and six exchange students this year.

To welcome our international students, a face-to-face welcome party was held for the first time in about two years. International students and many current students and faculty members joined the party, enabling meaningful cultural exchanges. Although no food or drink was provided as an infection control measure, it was a joyous party where we enjoyed face-to-face interactions.
