Tsuda University Commemorated 120th Anniversary

On October 10th, 2021, Tsuda University’s 120th Anniversary ceremony was held at Kodaira campus. Streamed on YouTube, alumnae all over the world watched and commemorated their Alma Mater's anniversary.

Established in 1900, Tsuda University has been empowering women by offering liberal arts education and committing to women's advancement. Umeko Tsuda, the founder of Tsuda University, was a pioneering woman educator. Her efforts for women's advancement is publicly recognized, leading Umeko to be the face of the 5,000 yen bill in 2024.

Tsuda University is honoured to have invited Mr. Aiji Tanaka, President of Japan Association of Private Universities and Colleges, and Professor Emeritus Masako Iino, President of Tsuda University Alumnae Association, as the Guests of Honour of the Ceremony. The event included the commemorative service and the awarding ceremony of the Tsuda Umeko prize and the high school essay contest. The vice-chairperson of the anniversary organizing committee also reported on the progress of the anniversary projects.

The mission of Tsuda University is to empower women to make a difference. We will continue to make progress towards this goal.
