July 6th symposium at Tsuda's Sendagaya Campus: Intercultural Communication for a Diverse Japan
講演内容
With Japan growing increasingly diverse due to shifting demographics and increasing migration, how can we as students, educators and citizens of Japan, work to increase cultural awareness and build intercultural communication competency? This symposium starts with a morning lecture by Professor Gracia Liu-Farrer, Graduate School of Asian Pacific Studies, Waseda University, who will share her research from her new book on immigrant Japan. Her lecture is titled "Immigrant Japan: Mobility and Belonging in an Ethno-nationalist Society." After a lunch break, participants will engage in an afternoon workshop on "Intercultural Competence Development and Communicating Across Difference." This symposium is an event to commemorate the opening of two new courses in the Department of English: Intercultural Communication Studies and Japan Studies in English.
